Here for another round of quarterly updates. To those of you who are new to my page, thank you so much for subscribing and welcome! I do like to write these updates as I feel it’s a good way for all of you to get to know me a little better, but please feel free to share about you in the comments below 🙂
January started out really well, but then got really bad. I celebrated New Years with Kelvi and we had a fantastic night with some friends and the next day we went to Big Bear Lake to start out the year with some nature. Our Airbnb was super cute and we had a great day but on our way back Kelvi fell very ill. As soon as we got home he fell asleep and I noticed he was burning up and I was trying my best to take care of him. Of course a day later I was sick as well and we were both diagnosed with the flu. I did get the flu shot but as we learned, it wasn’t as effective this year. We thankfully recovered after a week with lots of sleep and the flu medication we received from our doctor. We are hoping that is the worse illness we will catch this year *fingers crossed*
The very first weekend in February was wonderful because we learned the gender of my best friends baby! She and I have been friends since freshman year of high school and I love her like a sister and I couldn’t be more excited and already love that little boy so, so much!
My little brother came down to visit this month as well and I decided to take him on a hike. I don’t think he had ever done a hike before and though it was a bit challenging for his little feet, he said he had fun and would do it again. Yay!
February also brought valentines and I wouldn’t say I am much of a valentine’s type of gal, but Kelvi and I decided to take the day off and spent the day together. I am incredibly grateful for the love and care Kelvi gives me every single day, but with our busy schedules we’ll take any excuse for Kelvaly time. We went to The Broad in LA and experienced Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room, which was absolutely beautiful. Being 6 feet tall, he also got to experience feeling small with the large furniture display. I’m only about 5’1 so he got a small glimpse of how I feel every day when I can’t reach anything on the top shelf 🙂 haha Overall, it was a great day.
March is my birthday month and it was definitely a roller-coaster; I had 5 exams in 3 weeks, which was crazy stressful but then it led to the perfect birthday getaway. Kelvi & I along with a few of my cousins and friends went to Yosemite and spent the weekend disconnected from the world and it was such a magical experience. We went in the middle of a snow storm and it was our first time driving in the snow and by the time we got to the area where we needed to get our tire chains on, it was already getting dark. Driving up the pitch dark mountain with snow and rain and with the chains continuously falling off was absolutely terrifying but thankfully we made it safely. Since it was going to be snowing again all day on our first day, we decided to enjoy our gorgeous Airbnb home. We had ourselves a little snowball fight, the boys made an igloo, and we went sledding. The next day we tried exploring Yosemite National Park but it took us over an hour to get our cars out of the driveway because they were stuck from the snow and then came to find that a lot of the roads were closed so we didn’t do as much exploring as we originally wanted too but we will definitely be back and do a couple hikes. I have been dreaming of going to Yosemite for years now and even with the snow we had a great time and can’t wait to be back.
This semester has been very challenging and really stressful so I have found myself trying to eat really well and get enough rest so that I don’t get sick. In addition, I have taken the decision to take a break from social media until the end of the semester. That includes taking a break from writing on here as well. I know that with success comes some sacrifice and I am determined to do well on my anatomy & physiology class and lab. I can’t wait to be back in the summer and share more information and recipes on eating well and living a happy, healthy life! I appreciate all your support and hope you all are having a great start to your year as well!
